Add the maximum lifting height of the platform, the height of the lifting plates/support arms and the height of the tallest vehicle you want to lift (e.g. a transporter). Add to this total a safety distance of at least 20-30 cm from the ceiling or lamps/beams.
Anchored lifting platforms – The foundation for professional work
The stationary center of your workshop.
When it comes to uncompromising performance, maximum stability and unrestricted access, there is no alternative Path past a firmly anchored lifting platform. It is the heart of every professional workshop and the first choice for everyone who delivers top performance every day. A stationary lift is not a purchase, but an investment in efficiency, safety and professionalism. There are different types, which are better or worse depending on the task.

Why an anchored lifting platform is the professional choice.
In contrast to mobile solutions, firmly anchored lifting platforms are tailored precisely to the requirements of daily, intensive workshop operations. The decisive advantage lies in its absolute stability: thanks to the firm anchoring in the foundation, the vehicle is held securely in position even during powerful work and dangerous swaying or giving way is reliably prevented. This stability creates the basis for maximum work safety and ergonomics, as the well thought-out design allows, depending on the type, free access to all important areas such as the underbody, chassis, engine and exhaust system. The platforms demonstrate enormous versatility: regardless of whether they are a light sports car, a heavy SUV or a long van – they are designed for a wide mix of vehicles and high continuous loads. This is rounded off by perfect integration into the workplace, as underfloor models in particular disappear completely into the ground when not in use, creating a flat, barrier-free surface. Let us advise you.
What types of anchoring are there?
Anchoring in the existing foundation
This is the most common method for lifts that are set up on the workshop floor. The entire load and all dynamic forces are transferred via the floor plates of the stage into the concrete floor. If the foundation is suitable, special heavy-duty anchors are used to secure the base plates of the columns or scissor lift. You have the choice between mechanical and chemical anchors. The decision for length and type depends on the manufacturer's specifications, your concrete quality and your planned load requirements.
Integration into the foundation
This advanced method is used on stamp and in-ground lifts. A special, waterproof installation cassette made of steel is integrated directly into the foundation and thus becomes an integral part of the floor plate. This approach makes it possible to lay all supply lines such as hydraulics, electrics and compressed air invisibly in the ground. The result is an extremely stable lift and a completely flat, barrier-free work surface with no tripping hazards when the platform is retracted. The closed cassette also reliably protects the technology from external influences such as groundwater. For an optimal result, this solution is ideally planned in the construction or renovation phase of a workshop. What are the reasons for an anchored lift?
If you work on cars professionally, but are tired of the hassle of working on the ground or with unsafe jacks, a firmly anchored lift is the solution. It is much more than luxury, but a fundamental investment in your workshop, your safety and your efficiency.
But what should you pay attention to when making this investment? The most important criteria when selecting are:
- Load capacity: It must be designed for your heaviest vehicles (e.g. SUV or van) plus a sufficient safety reserve.
- Maximum lifting height: The higher the platform travels, the more comfortable it is for you to stand upright on the underbody work.
- Room height: The ceiling height of your workshop must be sufficient to be able to completely lift your tallest vehicle on the stage without hitting it.
- Design & dimensions: Do the lifting arms (for 2-columns) or the rails (for 4-columns/scissors) fit your vehicle mix? Is the passage width sufficient?
- Placement & escape routes: The position of the lift must be chosen so that important passages and legally required escape routes remain free.
- Safety features: Mechanical safety catches, a reliable synchronization control and (for 2-column platforms) an automatic one Arm locks are an absolute must.
- Foundation & base plate: The quality of your base plate is crucial for secure anchoring. It must have sufficient thickness and concrete quality (e.g. C20/25), be flat and free of cracks. We always recommend checking the condition of the ground by means of a core drill before purchasing.
By bringing the vehicle to a comfortable working height, you protect your back and joints and work more relaxed and efficiently. At the same time, the vehicle is absolutely safe. Unlike unsafe jack stands, it is held firmly and stably, which eliminates the risk of an accident. This means you can easily reach every component on the underbody and carry out all work - from exhaust service to changing the gearbox - much more precisely and professionally.
Models with an integrated axle free jack are particularly practical for axle and brake work on 4-column or scissor lifts. This additional jack allows you to lift the wheels from the rails, giving you complete freedom when working on the chassis.
In short: you work safer, increase your professionalism and achieve better results in less time.
Frequently asked questions
What minimum requirements (thickness, concrete quality) must my floor slab meet for secure anchoring?
The absolute minimum requirement is usually a crack-free, continuous concrete slab with a thickness of at least 200 mm and a concrete strength class of C20/25. However, the foundation plan of the respective lift manufacturer is always crucial, and its specifications must be strictly adhered to.
What happens if my floor slab is cracked or uneven? Can I still anchor a stage?
No, direct anchoring in cracked or porous concrete is not safe and therefore not permitted. Smaller unevenness can often be leveled out with special shims. In the case of larger cracks or poor concrete quality, the foundation at the anchor points must be renovated or a new strip or block foundation must be created according to the manufacturer's specifications.
Do I need a structural engineer to assess my floor slab?
If there are doubts about the load-bearing capacity, thickness or quality of the concrete or if there is a special ceiling construction (e.g. on an upper floor), it is essential to consult a structural engineer. With a standard-compliant, new and documented floor slab in a ground-level hall, this is often not necessary if the manufacturer's plan is followed.
What forces actually act on the anchors and the foundation?
Enormous tensile and shear forces act on the anchors. Especially with 2-column lifts, the weight of the vehicle creates a tipping moment that pulls the columns inwards. The anchors must absorb this force and dissipate it safely into the base plate. The foundation must withstand the pullout of the anchors and the pressure of the columns. If you are worried, we recommend stabilizing your 2-post lift with the appropriate base plate reinforcement. We're happy to help.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of a "base frame-free" lift?
Advantage: The biggest advantage is the completely free floor between the columns. There is no tripping hazard and workshop trolleys, transmission jacks or oil drain devices can roll through unhindered. Disadvantage: Platforms without a base frame place higher demands on the statics of the foundation, as the tilting moments must be completely absorbed by the ground anchoring.
Are there special lift models for smaller foundation thicknesses?
Yes, some manufacturers offer 2-post lifts with a "base frame". This connects the two columns on the ground and directs the tilting forces not primarily into the foundation, but into the frame itself. Such models place lower demands on the base plate, but limit the clearance height on the ground.
We advise against this. Assembly and especially anchoring are safety-relevant work that requires specialist knowledge. Incorrect assembly will void the manufacturer's warranty and, in the event of damage, insurance coverage. In addition, the initial commissioning must be approved by a qualified person (UVV test).
The qualified person checks all safety-relevant components. These include: the stability of the anchoring, the condition of the supporting structure (cracks, deformations), the function of the safety catches and arm locks, the condition of the suspension equipment (ropes, chains), the tightness of the hydraulic system and the function of all electrical safety and operating elements. The result is documented in a test book.
The foundation plan is part of the assembly instructions and the type test. If you deviate from this, the CE conformity of the entire installation will expire. In the event of damage, this would be viewed as gross negligence. The plan is therefore effectively binding./p>
