Bodywork & Induction Tools: Uses and Advantages
Bodywork and induction tools enable work on the vehicle structure that would be difficult or impossible with conventional tools. Induction heaters warm metal parts in a targeted, localised way – without open flame and without damaging adjacent plastic or rubber parts.
What are induction heaters used for?
Induction heaters are used in body shops for many tasks: releasing rusted or seized bolts, studs and nuts, targeted heating of sheet metal for straightening work, removing bonded body panels and films, and releasing adhesive bonds in body repair adhesive work. Unlike an open welding torch, induction works without contact and without fire risk.
What must be observed when using induction heaters?
Induction heaters generate a strong electromagnetic field – persons with pacemakers or metallic implants must not work in the immediate vicinity. In addition, no flammable materials should be near the work area. Cable runs, plastic and rubber parts on the vehicle should be protected before heating. When used correctly, however, induction heating is a very safe and precise method.
