Van and light truck tyres differ significantly from standard car tyres: they are heavier, have stronger sidewalls and sit on sturdy steel rims. This requires changers with higher torque, a more robust turntable and a larger clamping range than standard car machines.
Which tyre sizes fall into this category?
Typical van rim sizes are 15C (C for Commercial), 16C as well as 16, 17 and 17.5 inches. These sizes are common on vehicles such as the Mercedes Sprinter, VW Crafter, Ford Transit, Renault Master and similar van models. For light trucks up to 7.5 tonnes, rim sizes of 17.5 inches are typical.
Can standard car tyre changers be used for vans?
