Battery lifts are needed for all electric vehicles where the battery needs to be removed – for example during battery replacement, vehicle repair after an accident or inspection of the high-voltage system. Typical vehicles are electric cars of all brands, electric vans and electric commercial vehicles. Battery weights range from approximately 200 kg in smaller vehicles to over 700 kg in large SUVs and vans.
What must be observed when using battery lifts?
When removing high-voltage batteries, the vehicle's HV system must be correctly deactivated before work begins. This requires HV qualification of the workshop staff. The battery lift itself must be designed for the weight of the battery and provide a secure mount that prevents the battery from tipping or slipping.
