SICMI PSS 200M – hydraulic workshop press with 200 t pressing force

The SICMI PSS 200M is a hydraulic workshop press with a double stanchion (H-frame) design, 200 tonnes of pressing force and a 500 mm cylinder stroke for straightening, assembly and dismantling work. The long stroke and the large working area turn the press into the central forming and straightening machine on the shop floor: heavy parts go through in a single pass, even when a lot of travel is needed. SICMI has been building hydraulic presses in Sissa Trecasali near Parma since 1983 – made in Italy, with CE compliant two-hand control.

Key benefits

• 500 mm cylinder stroke: considerably more travel than most workshop presses in this class – deep press-fit jobs and tall workpieces without resetting.
• 200 t pressing force with adjustable limit: set the maximum working pressure on the knob and read the actual value on the gauge, so delicate parts get only the force they can take.
• Two speeds: 20 mm/s approach speed for closing the gap, 2 mm/s working speed for controlled pressing.
• Laterally movable cylinder (900 mm): move the cylinder to the pressing point instead of moving the workpiece – a real time saver on long plate and heavy assemblies.

Equipment & features

Frame and working area

• Double stanchion frame in thick rolled steel, fully welded all round with oversized weld seams – the geometry stays true under full load, year after year.
• Wide front opening, so long and wide workpieces can be loaded from the front.
• Work table raised by a chain driven from the hydraulic cylinder, with three selectable working positions.
• Table locked by thick steel pins, secured against slipping out with cotter pins.
• Hollow work platform, which lets you press material through vertically.
• Clear width between the stanchions 1500 mm, clear height in the working area 900 mm.

Hydraulics and controls

• Hydraulic unit with double speed control, 4 kW drive power.
• Cylinder can be moved 900 mm across the frame by hand; the standard version uses a handle with a locking pin on a metal grid, a handwheel with rack is available for finer positioning.
• Knob for setting the maximum working pressure, gauge showing the pressure actually applied.
• Sight glass for the oil level in the hydraulic system.
• Three-phase 380 V supply, control voltage stepped down to 24 V by transformer.

Safety

• Two-hand control: lever and pushbutton must be operated simultaneously, as European regulations require for lowering speeds above 10 mm/s.
• Lever logic that prevents mistakes: pushed forward the cylinder rises, pulled towards the operator it lowers – an accidental knock never sends the cylinder down.
• Metal housing around the base of the lever, so it can only be moved with the fingertips.
• Welded metal blocks at the foot of the press keep a safety gap for the operator's feet when the work table comes down.
• Stopflex hose restraint system against hose whip and oil spray.
• Hydraulic hoses and electrical cables anchored to the frame with welded metal clamps.
• Maximum pressure valve in the control unit protects pump and cylinder against overpressure.
• Emergency stop on the cabinet, main switch with LOTO padlock facility for maintenance, cabinet also closed with a key lock.
